March-April 2002 | It all
started when I decided to have another dog after the
sudden loss of my first little bitch. Why a Golden
Retriever? Well, because it had always been a my dream
for me, I had always loved everything about this breed... So I started looking for a good kennel to buy my pup. And I found the Tweed-Lenissei kennels : beautiful and sound dogs, a kind and professional breeder, and puppies due for mid-June... Perfect! My little boy was to be one of them then, and I started getting used to the idea that my dream was finally about to come true. |

15th June 2002 | TiSam
("Mr Green") was born on the 15th of June 2002
at the Tweed-Lenissei Kennels near Thiers, along with 3
other boys and 4 girls, from Riddle Woody's Memory of
Tweed-Lenissei's first litter (see Pedigree). For the first 2 months of his life, he'll be staying with his mum, brothers and sisters, surrounded with Retrievers, Labradors, Samoyedes and a loving and attentive young breeder. She decided to name all the pups beginning with "Ti" (every dog born in France in 2002 usually has to have a name beginning with a T). I had in mind to call my pup Sam. Therefore his full name (Pedigree) became TiSam. I liked the name Sam because it referred to characters and themes that mean a lot to me. To name a few : Samuel Beckett was one of the reasons as he is one of my favourite writers. Sam also comes from Samwise Gamgee, the famous hobbit in the greatest story ever written : JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings"... |

July 2002 | My very first visit took place around the 14th of July. As I was the first visiter, I had the great priviledge to be able to choose any one of those 4 little boys to be my future dog. It was really hard to make my mind, but I finally chose Mr Green (wearing a green ribbon around his neck), a plump, snowball-like little chap, whiter than all his brothers. | |
August 2002 | It was
so hard to wait another month and a half without seeing
him, that I decided to go back to the kennels one more
time before The Big Day. The puppies are 7 weeks old now, and hardly recognisable! My baby's grown so much in a couple of weeks, with his big velvet ears, his deep brown eyes and his perfectly white coat : he looks like a soft and cuddly little Teddy Bear!... It is going to be very hard to leave without him again!... |
|
Mid-August 2002 | The D-Day
at last : Mr Green becomes Sam, my new dog! Back at home, the little angel turns out to be a little devil! No more cuddly Teddy Bear, he is a real hurricane, full of energy and malice... the next couple of weeks aren't exactly going to be easy for us!! |
|
Sammy's
first days with us went good. He turned out to be
adorable, a bit naughty, but he obviously happy to please.
His education isn't exactly a piece of cake for the first
couple of months : curiosity is stronger than all! He's a
bit crazy like all pups of his age, and sleeping alone
isn't easy... But little by little, he gets used to
living with me, and finally learns the magic word :
" No!". After a few months, one can say that Sam is a healthy doggy, he gets used to his life in the city quite easily, he is merry and affectionate. Educating him is quite complicated before 5 months of age. Patience and gentleness are the keys... To sum it up, Sam has a boundless love for sticks and water ; he is always happy, always ready to come anywhere with me, especially to the Pub so he can have his belly scratched by total strangers ; he is soft-hearted but not the most delicate in showing his love (Mind the paws, and headbuts!) ; all in all he is a good dog, good-spirited, easy-going and always up for it! |

February 2003 | Sam
finds out about the pleasures of swimming and playing in
the water. He also starts going to an Agility Club where he can improve his obedience and get familiar with an Agility Dog Field. |
